Finalist in KBDI Large Bathroom of the Year NSW 2017
The client was commencing an overhaul of their 1980‘s Castle Hill home. Renovations were to be under-taken throughout the home, with the upstairs bathrooms to be done first. The house is well-presented with manicured gardens and generous living proportions. The main upstairs bathroom is being used by 3 children and was dated with shiplap walls and ceiling, had a shower over a large spa bath and separate WC room.
The final space for the main bathroom was significantly large once additional room was gained from structural changes to the adjacent spaces.
The most significant design recommendations were:
Making the room larger allowed for a separate shower and also space for a freestanding bath. Large mirrors which slide rather than hinge open means easy access to items stored in the shelving behind and also larger mirrors for the kids to do their hair, brush teeth.
Modern metallic floor tiles and rustic 200x200 feature tiles behind the bath tub were selected and teamed with natural materials like carrara penny round tiles in the niches and Laminex Sublime Teak addressing the client’s request for contemporary yet warm finishes. Pietra Grey Caesarstone on the nib walls and black tapware, bath tub and shower screen fittings make the bathroom striking and luxurious.
